MERASYS at the ACIEAU Annual Event in Dubai: Celebrating Science, Innovation and Collaboration
Last week, MERASYS had the privilege of sponsoring the ACIEAU Annual Event 2025 in Dubai, organised by the Association of Spanish Scientists and Researchers in the United Arab Emirates. This inspiring gathering brought together families and professionals to celebrate Spanish science, innovation and international collaboration.
One of the highlights of the event was the inspiring talk delivered by Sara García Alonso, renowned biotechnologist and astronaut. Her talk, “Biotechnology: From the Laboratory to Space”, captivated attendees by connecting biomedical research, space exploration and STEM careers, leaving a lasting impression on both children and adults.

During the event, the first ACIEAU Awards were presented to celebrate impactful Spanish projects in the UAE:

🏆 AREAD – Atmospheric Research Expedition from Spain to Abu Dhabi
A groundbreaking multinational project using advanced atmospheric research instruments on a ship built in Vigo, Galicia. AREAD collected real-time data on over 22 key atmospheric parametres across a 10,000 km marine expedition, supporting air quality policies in Abu Dhabi and fostering international scientific collaboration. -
🏆 HAYAT – UAE Organ Donation and Transplant Program
This program highlights the successful collaboration between Spanish medical expertise and the UAE healthcare system, improving organ donation and transplantation efficiency while saving lives. Since its launch, HAYAT has registered over 37,000 donors, performed more than 1,100 transplants and significantly increased awareness and participation in organ donation.
