ANAIP & Plastics Europe Pellet Regulation Session

Pelltinel attends the industry event on the new EU Pellet Regulation organised by ANAIP and Plastics Europe Spain

Yesterday, the Pelltinel team had the pleasure of attending the event organised by ANAIP (Spanish Association of Plastics Manufacturers) and Plastics Europe Spain, in collaboration with the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, focused on analysing the new EU Regulation on preventing pellet losses and its convergence with the Operation Clean Sweep (OCS) programme.

The event brought together representatives from public administration, industry and regulatory bodies to discuss the challenges of this new framework and the implications for all operators across the plastics value chain. The strong attendance highlighted the sector's commitment to moving towards more responsible and sustainable pellet management.

Key takeaways from the new EU Pellet Regulation

Throughout the session, several important aspects of the new regulatory framework were highlighted:

  • Mandatory risk management plans for all companies handling plastic pellets
  • Independent third-party certification required for medium and large operators
  • Adapted, lighter obligations for smaller companies
  • Increased emphasis on traceability, staff training and best handling practices
  • Alignment with the Operation Clean Sweep programme, already widely implemented in Spain.

The message was clear: this Regulation represents a decisive step toward the shared goal of zero pellet loss in Europe.

How Pelltinel supports companies under the new regulation

One of the challenges discussed at the event, is that the Regulation requires companies to report pellet losses, but the methodology is largely based on estimations.

At Pelltinel, we believe that effective pellet loss prevention requires more than estimating - it requires measuring. Our technology provides

  • Real, traceable data on pellet loss using computer vision
  • Continuous real-time monitoring in various industrial environments, from production to logistics
  • Automatic identification of spills and operational risk points
  • Objective evidence that simplifies audits, OCS certification and regulatory compliance.

In an increasingly demanding regulatory landscape, reliable information not only supports compliance, but also improves operations, reduces costs and strengthens overall environmental performance.
