ARCADE: Quality Defect Detection in Automotive Production Lines

ARCADE is a computer vision system that detects defects in vehicles during manufacturing, optimising quality control in automotive factories.

Quality in automobile production is a key factor for industrial efficiency and customer satisfaction. ARCADE uses smart cameras and state-of-the-art sensors to capture detailed images of each vehicle in real time and analyse them with artificial intelligence. The system detects any anomaly, allowing operators to take corrective action immediately.

ARCADE can be applied to multiple manufacturing processes, demonstrating its versatility:

  • Painting: Compliance of sealing cords, MAG Brandcard control.

  • Stamping: Control of punched parts and container alignment.

  • Assembly: Interior and exterior conformity, surface appearance and final vehicle inspection.

The system incorporates advanced technologies that enhance precision and efficiency:

  • CNNs (Convolutional Neural Networks): analyse images to detect patterns and defects in each vehicle.

  • Machine Learning: improves system reliability over time by learning from historical and current data.

  • IoT (Internet of Things): enables real-time monitoring and analysis, allowing rapid response to any detected anomalies.

Currently, ARCADE is implemented in some of the leading automotive plants in Europe. At the STELLANTIS factory in Vigo, 163 cameras across four workshops monitor approximately 500,000 vehicles per year. Overall, our system oversees thousands of vehicles annually, achieving a 99% reliability rate.

ARCADE redefines industrial inspection, providing speed and consistency that human inspection cannot match. Its integration into the production line improves traceability, reduces error costs and raises the quality standards of every vehicle, consolidating operational excellence in the automotive sector.
